This has become one of my favorite birthday traditions with you, Isabella. Mostly because I cherish the uninterrupted time I get to spend with you. Because I know that it is fleeting. You reminded me that these are your last birthday pictures in middle school. And it’s unbelievable how fast 14 years have gone. Every day I see you growing into a young woman. A little bit older, minute by minute. I used to measure the days in breathes when you were a baby. And now I just want time to slow down so I can hold onto you at this age, in this moment, for just a little bit longer.
Isabella, I love watching you express yourself from behind my lens. This was the year of the concert t-shirts (and two dresses). And it was so much fun to play the music of each artist and relive all of those memories with you throughout the evening. You thrive off the energy of a live show, and I always have the best time when I get to sing along next to you. Even when we are dancing in the rain at Red Rocks. It’s a true gift, sharing these experiences with you.
Your dad and I are also your biggest cheerleaders on the volleyball court. We are thrilled you found an activity that you are passionate about. We can ‘t wait to see what your first club season brings. There will be wins and there will be loses, but we love to watch you play.
Happy 14th birthday, Isabella Vail. I hope it’s your version of the perfect day today. I love you so much, my sweet girl!
