Happy first day of Fall! Although I have already been celebrating the early changing of the leaves and cooler temperatures for a couple weeks, now. Haha! YA YA FARM & ORCHARD is one of my favorite places to visit in the Fall. Just like I love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte and wearing scarves everyday. And this year, we were actually lucky enough to score a reservation to pick apples! The U-Pick-It Apple Orchard at Ya Ya Farm & Orchard is such a great fall family activity. Mark your calendars friends, because reservations to pick fruit start January 1, right HERE. Even if you don’t get an apple picking reservation, it’s definitely worth the trip to get some fresh apple cider donuts from the farm store. They are the best!
We started with a tractor ride out into the apple orchard, which the kids loved. Our guide explained which apples were ready to harvest, and then we had our bag to fill. We were each allowed to eat one piece of fruit while we were picking. Of course, Wyatt was the first to find a ripe pear. And Isabella carried the fruit bag, until it got too full.
We probably spent a good hour out in the orchard picking fruit. Turns out it is a lot harder than it looks. You are only supposed to twist the fruit once, and if it does not come off, then it is not ready. Needless to say, there were a lot of apples that weren’t ready. But there were also some perfectly good apples on the ground. Haha. After we filled our bag, we shopped in the farm stand and picked up a half-dozen cider donuts and some pumpkin butter. The donuts didn’t make it out of the parking lot, but we still have lots of delicious apples to eat…
