Hi Friends!  School is out in a couple weeks and then it is the official kickoff to summer!  I am pretty excited about all of the things happening this month in my hometown, so here is my list of things to do in May.  Erie is a wonderful community to raise a family, and I would love for you to check out one of the events below if you are in the area.  And if you see this Erie, Colorado family photographer, in my “Mama’s Gonna Snap” shirt, with a camera and two curly haired kiddos, please introduce yourself and say hi!

MAY 9 – FOOD TRUCKS

2nd & 4th Tuesdays 5:30PM – 8PM, May 9 – August 22, Skyline Pool, Vista Ridge, Erie, Colorado

I love food trucks!  There’s nothing better than heading up to the park on a Tuesday night, sampling food from different trucks, and letting the kids run wild!  Tuesday night food trucks in Vista Ridge have become a huge part of our summer tradition since we moved into the neighborhood five summers ago.  Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, an adult beverage of your choice, and meet me by the dessert truck (especially if it is Sweet Cow)!  You do not have to be a Vista Ridge resident to enjoy this family fun night.  Everyone is invited to the party!

MAY 13 – SPRING MINI SESSIONS

Announcing the first mini session event of the year with Colorado Lifestyle Photography!  Spring Mini Sessions are taking place on Mother’s Day weekend.  Embrace the moment and get in the frame with your family.  Spring Mini Sessions are perfect for baby bumps, families, milestones, high school seniors and even grandparents.

MAY 14 – MOTHER’S DAYMothers Day Mini Sessions_Colorado Lifestyle Photography (3 of 4)-2

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14, and if you have not made your reservations for brunch by now, good luck!  Weather permitting, this year we are planning on going on an easy, kid-friendly hike around Wonderland Lake in Boulder.  Then it is off to brunch!  I could eat at Snooze any day of the week, but my kids have been wanting to try the cereal bar at the new William Oliver’s in Lafayette, so maybe I will have to explore their bottomless mimosa or bloody mary bar.

MAY 18 – FARMER’S MARKET

Thursdays 5PM – 8PM, May 18 – September 22, Briggs Street between Wells and Moffatt, Erie, Colorado

The Erie Farmer’s Market is back, and I can say from personal experience, that the market just keeps getting bigger and better every year!  If you are looking for something to do this summer on a Thursday night, I invite you to head down to Old Town Erie, and check out the amazing local Colorado farmers and businesses.   Nothing beats a bag of fresh vegetables, some local eats, and free entertainment.  If you are hungry, grab a bite from one of the vendors or step into Nosh, Echo Brewing Company, The Old Mine or 24 Carrot Bistro for dinner.  Don’t forget to grab an ice cream cone from Sweets for dessert before you go home!

MAY 20 – ERIE TOWN FAIR & BALLOON FESTIVAL

Erie Colorado Family Photographer_Colorado Lifestyle Photography (1 of 1)-3

This year is the 21st Annual Erie Town Fair and Balloon Festival!  My family plans our entire month around this event.  We missed it one year due to travel, and I never want to miss it again!  Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and bring along some easy breakfast snacks like bagels or muffins.  Hot air balloons launch at 6:15am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Colorado National Golf Club.  After the launch on Saturday, take the family into Historic Downtown Erie for the town fair to support local businesses and participate in some fun activities.  The day concludes with a free concert in Coal Creek Park, balloon glow, and fireworks at 9:15PM.
