Surprise Proposal & Engagement Session at Horsetooth Reservoir

There is something pretty magical about starting the day by asking the person you love to spend the rest of their life with you.

Tyler planned a sunrise surprise proposal for Sydney at Horsetooth Reservoir, with their two dogs along for the adventure. We met early in the morning while the trails were still quiet and the first light was beginning to spill across the foothills.

One of my favorite things about surprise proposals is everything that happens immediately afterward. The nerves disappear, the excitement takes over, and suddenly you get to slow down and really enjoy the fact that you’re engaged!

We wandered around Horsetooth for engagement pictures, taking in the reservoir views and letting their dogs join in on the celebration. I also brought along a little champagne breakfast picnic so Tyler and Sydney could pop some bubbly, sit together overlooking the water and soak in the morning.

It felt less like a photo session and more like the beginning of a really good day.

Horsetooth Reservoir is such a beautiful place for a Colorado proposal because you get a little bit of everything, the water, rocky overlooks, foothills and wide-open views. At sunrise, it becomes even more peaceful, giving you space to experience the moment without a lot of distractions.

And for Tyler and Sydney, having their dogs there made the morning feel even more like them.
