This fall, my good friend Mallorie asked what location was still on my Colorado bucket list for family pictures. And the answer came to mind immediately. Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff Mountain. Just minutes outside of Boulder, Lost Gulch provides a picturesque mountain backdrop. The location was every bit as amazing as I had envisioned. And the boys loved climbing all of the rocks and exploring the cliffs. Lost Gulch family pictures should be on your Colorado bucket list, if it isn’t already! There are so many wonderful locations for family pictures close to Boulder, but this is by far the best panoramic views of the mountains.
I met Mallorie 10 years ago, after my husband and I first moved to Colorado. We were both living in the same apartment building. And now we we are all grown up and living in the same neighborhood (same street even)! I have been photographing her boys since they were babies, and before I had kids of my own. So it was really special to be able to take her family up to Lost Gulch for family pictures. In fact, I felt like a VIP, since they drove and I was chauffeured to and from the location. 😉
We explored the Lost Gulch Overlook first, just as everyone was starting to gather to watch the sunset on the rocks. Then we headed off into the woods, and the boys, of course, found some big sticks to play with. But the best surprise was when we found a more secluded area on the rocks, and watched a small herd of deer walk right by us! Look closely at the last family picture, and you will see it. Loving this Colorado Lifestyle!
