As a Colorado family photographer, I love capturing First Year Milestones. From the in-home, lifestyle newborn session, to the first birthday cake smash, I have the opportunity to watch these babies grow into little boys and girls, and really get to know their families. Makayla was born in May, and I first met her when she was only 8 days new. I still remember, it was a gorgeous spring day, and we ventured outside to take some of her newborn pictures.
Because you can customize your own package, Makayla’s mom chose the three session collection. I visited Makalya again at 3 months and 6 months. From some of her first smiles, to grabbing her toes, every time we met she was such happy girl.
Makayla’s first birthday session was just as amazing as her newborn session. Her parents wanted to just have fun outside, and capture Makayla’s personality. So we met at Redstone Park in Denver. She loves to swing, and so we had a playground and a cute little pond to explore. This sweet pea had three outfit changes, too, and she totally rocked her photo shoot!
I was definitely more than a little sentimental when I delivered the final gallery to her family. Spending a year with this family, and seeing how much Makayla grew, makes me realize how fast the time goes when they are little. I enjoyed looking through Makayla’s First Year Milestones gallery almost as much as her parents. The first birthday session obviously isn’t goodbye, but it certainly is a big milestone, and something to celebrate.
