Even though I am blogging about this session in May, it’s never too early to start thinking about your Fall Family Pictures at McKay Lake! This is one of the only locations on my list of favorites that works well for both morning and evening sessions, because of all of the beautiful trees and light filtering through.
When I met this group for their family session the first weekend in November last year, we met in the morning to best accommodate the little ones’ schedules. But that didn’t stop one of them from falling asleep and taking a quick nap during pictures.
Peak fall color in Colorado typically occurs from mid-September to mid-October, with specific timing varying based on elevation and location. In the mountains, we typically see peak fall color the last two weeks in September. And on the front range, it’s usually mid to late October.
