Nicole and Zack could not have picked a more perfect day for their Fall Engagement Session in Breckenridge. Peak fall color varies each year, but October 1, 2025, was absolutely golden! I met Nicole and Zack at Officer’s Gulch, which remains one of my favorite locations year-round. It offers that rare combination of accessibility and dramatic, 360-degree mountain views. And in the fall, the landscape transforms. You get these stunning pops of golden aspens tucked into the dark evergreens on the mountainsides, reflecting off the water. It’s a photographer’s playground, and for a couple looking for that “iconic Colorado” feel, it never misses.
Like many couples, Nicole and Zack arrived feeling a little bit nervous. They mentioned they weren’t used to being the center of attention or “posing” for the camera. This was their first professional photoshoot as a couple. We spent the afternoon exploring the trail, laughing through the “awkward” moments, and simply enjoying the scenery. By the end of the session, the nerves had completely melted away. We even found a secluded, small grove of aspens to snuggle up into, capturing those quiet, intimate moments.
“I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the way our photos turned out. I was extremely nervous to see them, as I’m overly critical of my appearance in photos & don’t usually like how I look, but honestly could not (and still can’t) stop smiling when looking at our photos (which happens to be all the time since I’ve changed my phone background to be a loop of all of my favorite shots!). I truly can’t thank you enough for everything! Zack and I were nervous/hesitant going into the session since we’re both not used to being the center of attention or posing for photos, but you made us feel so comfortable & we had so much fun during our short time together, and I think that really shines through in our gallery. ” – Nicole & Zack
Tips for Your Own Fall Engagement Session
If you’re planning your own engagement session in the Breckenridge area, keep these three things in mind:
Timing is everything: Late September to early October is usually the sweet spot for gold, but it can change in a heartbeat!
Layers are your friend: Fall in the mountains means it can be 60°F one minute and 35°F the next.
Trust the process: As Nicole and Zack found out, the best photos happen when you stop worrying about the camera and just focus on each other.
