Nilan and Annika’s story started the evening before, during a sunset hike at Mayflower Gulch. What Annika thought was just another beautiful Colorado hike turned into a surprise proposal. Quiet, emotional, and completely unforgettable. See more moments here.
And then, just hours later, we met again.
From Sunset to Sunrise
The next morning, we met at Loveland Pass for their engagement session. This time with Annika (and Nilan) dressed up, the mountains waking up around us, and that soft alpine light you only get at sunrise.
There’s something different about sessions that start this early. It’s quieter. Slower. Like the world hasn’t quite caught up yet.
It gave them space to just be in it. No rush, no distractions. Just the two of them, taking in their first sunrise with each other as an engaged couple.
A Moment That Felt Like Them
What made this session stand out wasn’t just the location (though Loveland Pass always delivers)—it was the timing.
Less than 12 hours after getting engaged, everything was still fresh. The excitement, the emotion, the “we can’t believe this just happened” feeling. It was all right there.
And that’s the kind of energy you can’t recreate.
“These are more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. Thank you so, so much for making this occasion that much more special.” – Nilan
