As a Dillon Colorado Family Photographer, the Dillon Ice Castles have been on my bucket list for the past couple of years. We finally made it, the day before they closed for the season! We headed up to the mountains early on Friday, to celebrate my birthday weekend. Brad found the cutest two bedroom condo for us in Frisco to cozy up in for the weekend, with a real wood fireplace. I can’t remember the last time we had a wood burning fire. This is after the epic week of snowfall and historic avalanches, so we didn’t make any plans until we got up there. But after we checked in and got settled, I went online and found tickets were still available for 4PM.
It was perfect! Even though it was overcast, it was still in the low 30’s. We all layered up in our snow pants and hats and gloves. It wasn’t snowing when we got there, but by the time we left, it was a blizzard! Pure magic! We played in the ice castles for about one hour, and we got to see a little bit of the night glow. The kids really liked the ice slides, and I liked walking through all of the tunnels and taking pictures. 🙂
