Denver Union Station is such a fun change of pace for family pictures. Especially when you want something that feels polished and urban while still giving kids plenty of room to move and play.
For this morning family session, we explored some of my favorite corners inside Union Station, including the iconic Terminal Bar and the Cooper Lounge. The mix of historic architecture, warm wood, big windows, and modern details gives you so much variety without having to travel between locations. It also made the perfect backdrop for this family’s black-and-neutral wardrobe.
Morning sessions work especially well at Union Station. The light pouring through those huge windows is gorgeous, and downtown feels a little calmer before the day really gets going. With little kids, mornings can also mean happier energy, and plenty of time to let the session unfold without rushing.
And after dressing up and exploring Union Station, we ended the morning in the best possible way: letting the kids run through the splash pad outside. They could get wet, play, and completely forget there was a camera around. It was such a fun contrast to the more classic portraits inside and gave us those playful, summertime images that feel so true to childhood.
If you’re looking for Denver family pictures with a little more personality than a traditional outdoor location, Union Station is one of my favorite options. Between the Terminal Bar, Cooper Lounge, beautiful architecture, downtown streets, and the splash pad just outside, there are so many different looks within one easy location.
