Best Colorado Locations for Family Pictures

Uninterrupted time to spend TOGETHER as a family. That is my gift to you. Sessions focused on movement and connection. Full of life and love and chaos and beauty. These are your collection of moments to preserve. Because let’s be honest, every day is far from perfect. And sometimes you will have to straight up embarrass your kids for a good laugh. But it is SOOO worth it. And I don’t know about you, but when I can step away from the to-do lists and the never-ending piles of dirty laundry and clean laundry, and just set down my phone and unplug. When I can make time to truly be present and engaged with my kids, that, my friends, is when I am happiest. Even if it is only for an hour. That is when I know I belong. That is when we make memories together.

Honestly, I started writing this blog post about my favorite locations for family pictures, and then I had to share a little more of me with you. Because we may be able to search out the “perfect” location, but I am guessing if I asked you to use one word to describe family, it wouldn’t be “perfect.” Family is so much more complicated than that. It can be messy and out of focus. And sometimes we can see the beauty amongst the chaos, and sometimes we are simply overwhelmed by it all. But there is no denying it makes you FEEL something…

As a Colorado Lifestyle Photographer, I am not here to photograph what family looks like. I am here to photograph what family FEELS like. And it honestly doesn’t matter where we are, as long as we are together. But we live in a beautiful state with incredible scenery, so here are my top five favorite locations for family pictures…

The Mountains

From Boulder to Breckenridge to Estes Park, Colorado is home to many stunning mountain locations for family pictures. I could write an entire blog post on all of my favorite mountain spots! Honestly, the mountains are the reason my husband and I moved here, over 12 years ago, and they still breathe life into me every day. Urban Vibes

The RiNo Art District in Denver is full of colorful murals and great energy! This unique location is must if you are searching for a new experience for your family pictures.

Red Rocks Amphitheater

Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, is an iconic Colorado landmark. Ever the popular summer destination for concerts and events, it is a must see for out of town travelers and locals alike!

Open Fields

Wide open spaces and great views of the Flat Irons. Davidson Mesa in Louisville is a one of my favorites places to capture the sunset over the mountains. Sessions here are filled with golden sunbeams and vibrant colors.

Rustic Charm

It’s no secret if you know me, or have been following my photography journey, that Ya Ya Farm & Orchard in Longmont is one of my favorite hangouts. From its charming rustic farm vibes, to the best apple cider donuts you will ever have in your life, this location has my heart. Other historic locations I like to visit include 17 Mile House Farm Park in Denver and Clear Creek History Park in Golden.
