The Benefits of Taking Newborn Pictures When Baby is One Month Old
Newborn photos are a cherished keepsake for parents, capturing the fleeting moments of their baby’s early days. While the traditional window for newborn photos is within the first two weeks of life, there are actually some benefits to waiting until your baby is one month old to have their photos taken.
1. Your baby will be more alert and interactive.
At one month old, your baby will be more alert and interactive than they were at two weeks old. This means that they will be more likely to engage with you and give you some great smiles.
2. Your baby will have had more time to put on weight.
Newborn babies lose weight in the first few days after birth. By one month old, they will have had more time to put on weight, giving them those adorable chubby cheeks and rolls.
3. You will have had more time to recover from childbirth.
Childbirth is a major event, and it takes time for your body to recover. If you have your newborn photos taken at one month old, you will have had more time to heal and feel more like yourself.
4. You will have had more time to bond with your baby.
The first few weeks after birth can be a whirlwind, as you adjust to your new life as parents. By one month old, you will have had more time to bond with your baby and get to know their personality. This will make the newborn photo shoot more enjoyable for your family.
5. You will start to have a routine with your baby.
By one month old, your family will start to settle into a new routine with your new baby, which makes it easier to plan a time of day to take pictures.
Here are some tips for taking newborn photos when your baby is one month old:
- Dress your baby in simple, comfortable clothing that won’t be too distracting. You can plan to have a couple different outfits, or swaddles on hand. Parents should also dress in simple, neutral colors.
- Choose a location that is comfortable and familiar for your baby. In your home, you can plan on taking pictures in your bedroom, the baby’s nursery, and/or living areas with natural light.
- Be patient and let your baby take their time. Lifestyle newborn sessions are 100 percent baby led. We take breaks when your baby needs to be fed or changed.
- And of course, baby’s are most comfortable being held in your arms. We will of course take some pictures of your baby alone, but most of the time, he or she will be snuggled up with you.
